The Ball

This past weekend, the Canora & Sturgis RCMP detachments hosted their 2nd Annual RCMP Ball in Canora. It was a night where all the members dressed in their red serge and the spouses/significant others got to get all dressed up for the evening. It was also nice for Cory and I to get out for an evening without Cameron. Don't get me wrong, we love him dearly but it is nice to have adult time too ;)

The evening started with a cocktail hour. The members greeted everyone who came to the ball as they arrived and I was designated the ticket/money taker at the door. The husband of one of the other members sat with me to keep me company. Following the cocktail hour we were all very much ready for dinner. Cory was given the task of saying Grace and he did a very good job. We were fortunate enough to sit at one of the first tables to head for the buffet line for supper, which was great because I was starving. As a side note, my diet has been going very well with the exception of the past week. The buffet had lots to choose from and it was actually the same as last year...it included rolls, coleslaw, caesar salad, pickles (gag!), mixed veggies, mashed potatoes, baked macaroni, perogies, meatballs, cabbage rolls, turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Dessert was similar to a strawberry shortcake and it was quite yummy. I had a pretty full plate but I definitely didn't over do it. Plus, I opted to eat more rather than waste my weight watcher's points on alcohol.

The DJ started at 9pm and the music was pretty good. We did a little dancing, lots of socializing and had many, many laughs. We didn't stay too late because we had to get back home to Sturgis and then take our babysitter home but it was a fun night out.

Until next time...
