Road Trip

This past weekend our little family went on a little road trip to Saskatoon! With the arrival of our baby girl quickly approaching (only 10 or so weeks to go), we needed to take a trip into the city to do a little shopping for things that we just couldn't find closer to home. We had originally planned to do a day trip but after putting quite a bit of thought into it, I decided it would be best to spend the night instead of trying to cram so much into one day. You see, it is a 3+ hour drive each way between Sturgis and Saskatoon. On top of the driving time, we had quite a few stops that we wanted to make while in Saskatoon. I knew that it was just going to be too much to do in one day for my pregnant body and it would just be too rushed. So, at the last minute I decided we should leave for Saskatoon Friday morning and spend the night. That way we could get some of our shopping done on Friday afternoon and finish up on Saturday. We had to be home Saturday night though because the Easter Bunny was coming!!

So, we ventured off on our little journey on Friday morning and luckily the weather was beautiful and the traveling was great. For those of you who are unaware, there is a lot of flooding within SK but fortunately we didn't encounter any detours or delays on the drive to or from Saskatoon. Friday afternoon, we went to Canadian Tire, Old Navy and Walmart before calling it a day. We then had an early supper at Red Lobster and the food was awesome! We then went to get checked in at the hotel, which was the Delta Bessborough and it was our first stay at this hotel. We were a little disappointed to find out that the pool was closing early due to it being Good Friday but we just planned to go swimming in the morning instead.

Saturday morning started way too early when Cameron woke up at 6:30am and refused to go back to sleep. We were at the pool shortly after 8am and spent an hour splashing and playing with Cameron. I even squeezed myself into my bathing suit and went swimming. Actually, my bathing suit fit pretty good with the exception of half of my baby belly hanging out! After we all had our showers and got our stuff packed up we had a lovely buffet breakfast at the hotel before we started our shopping adventure for the day. We spent a few hours at the mall and then a good hour at Toys R Us. I think the highlight was our visit to Build-A-Bear where Cameron made himself a camouflage bear and a lamb for the baby. We then went to Costco where we loaded up on groceries...I love Costco! I had requested that we go to East Side Marios for supper and even though it's not one of Cory's favorite places to eat :) We finally got home at 11pm Saturday night after a very long but productive couple of days.

So, I think we have pretty much everything that we need for the new baby. I just need to pick up a few little things now. I also finally decided on a crib and dresser and ordered them online. They should arrive in a week but we still don't have the office moved to the basement so that we can set up the baby's room...it'll get done though :) And that's the story of our little road trip.
